Dr Kimberley Alexander

(BMedSc Hon, PhD)

Head, Brain Cancer Research, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse
Senior Research Fellow, Sydney University

Senior Research Fellow, RPA Neuropathology Deptartment

Dr Alexander’s early career was supported by NHMRC (2011) and CINSW (2015) fellowships and she has attracted more than $3M in research funding. Her research uses cutting-edge mass spectrometry to resolve the brain cancer molecular landscape to understand how tumours invade and hijack their microenvironments, identify therapeutic targets and chemo-resistance/relapse mechanisms and resolve novel, clinically relevant biomarkers.

She has unique expertise in the growing field of extracellular vesicle biology and is experienced with their isolation, characterisation and comprehensive multi-platform molecular profiling. Dr Alexander is also the coordinating Principal Investigator of the multi-site Sydney Brain Tumour Bank that supports a range of translational research programs, including the GlioNET study, an ambitious observational study for newly diagnosed glioma patients.
