“Our mission is to create an Australian research alliance to define, drive and deliver excellence in brain cancer research that will improve the lives of brain cancer patients worldwide.”

— ABCARA DIRECTORSHIP

The Australian Brain Cancer Research Alliance (ABCARA), established in 2021, focuses on enhancing the participation of translational scientists in clinical studies for brain cancer. This national research initiative was launched in partnership with the Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO) and held its inaugural research symposium in 2021.

Since then, it has hosted four symposia, each demonstrating growth in attendance, participation, and engagement from an expanding national network across Australia. These events have facilitated knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the alignment of research priorities across diverse fields in brain cancer research.

Making breakthroughs for brain cancer patients requires a collaborative national research effort to expand our technological and human infrastructure in this area, and crucially, translate these findings to trial.

ABCARA is committed to securing funding and support for high-impact research initiatives that address the most urgent needs in brain cancer treatment. By establishing benchmarks for success, ABCARA ensures that each research project contributes to the larger mission of extending and improving the lives of brain cancer patients.

ABCARA’s leadership and program leads contribute deep expertise across immunology, drug discovery, genetic modeling, artificial intelligence, biomarker research, tumor heterogeneity, imaging, and radiation oncology. Learn more about the Directorship, Program Leads and Foundation Members here.
